The fifth installment of Scion's ExpreScion was the most extensive to date on the magnificent Alcatraz Island. The event was a multi-sensory art experience conceived and produced by the Flavor Group that brought together and showcased the depth of cutting edge music, fashion, performance, and art. Many of the event components were a first on Alcatraz thanks to the relationship developed with the Golden Gate National Parks Service. Scion San Francisco also graciously donated a brand new 2007 Scion xB to the Park Conservancy (the nonprofit partner of the National Parks) since their last vehicle was lost in a fire.
The Chapel Room Art Gallery remained open for 6 weeks following the event attracting over 20,000 people. The gallery featured an exhibition focused on the theme of redemption and rebirth with
respect to the prison, Native American occupation, and national park.
The Dining Room of Alcatraz was converted into a venue and lounge featuring performances by Cool Kids, DJ Sleazemore, and others. Produced by visual arts and longtime San Francisco promoters Blasthaus.
In the hospital wing featured performances by acrobats, contortionists, and side show freaks of San Francisco's Vau De Vire Society.
Inside the Shower Room we held the first ever fashion show on Alcatraz Island, showcasing fashion-forward eco and environmentally conscious designs by: Bahar Shapar [NYC], Del Forte [LA], and Concept work by students of the San Francisco Art Institute. Directed by Wrap Productions.
